My name is Dominic James Pettifer. I am a 25 year old Software Engineer living in Dundee, Scotland.

I put this website together partly as a promotional site for me and my work (mainly websites), and as a blogging site for myself to talk about things on my mind, general rants and raves, and the occasional useful technical article in software development matters along with anything else I deem worthy.

I also wanted to learn ASP.NET, so I thought "I know I'll make one of those blogging thingies, they seem to be all the rage these days, and every man, women, child and their pet hamster seems to have one!".

I have studied Computing (Applications Development) at the University of Abertay Dundee from September 2000 to June 2005. Yes that's 5 years! It was a 4 year degree but I failed 3rd year and had to repeat it, but I managed to pick myself up and get a 1st class honours in the end.

I'm currently doing a Masters in Software Engineering (Internet Computing) at Abertay Dundee, and will finish in January. I've already passed the Post Graduate phase and I am currently working on my Masters Dissertation where I am building a web based chat room using Ajax.

I mainly have a background in OO programming with Java and .NET writing web applications, although I lean more towards .NET.

I am, or used to be, a big video games fanatic. Recently I just haven’t had much time to play games what with all the work doing on, although I still follow what’s going on in the industry. I’m mainly a PC gamer, playing Shoot’em ups and RPGs.

I'm also into computer hardware, and love building, upgrading and tweaking PCs and following goings on in the industry, and reading up on new hardware innovations.
